Stu is thought to be by many to the greatest NL Texas hold em Poker player ever.

The three time World Poker Champ was born in New York in ‘53 and began wagering poker prior to reaching his teens.

The young bettor started out wagering gin and at the age of ten had won his very first gin tournament, while on vacation with his parents. By the age of 14 the little poker genius had become a pro and dropped out of school.

In 1954 Stu Ungar entered the record books by succeeding 10 grand in a gin rummy tournament without losing a single hand, a record which still stands in New York these days.

The fast speaking superstar has been compared, in poker terms, to sporting greats such as Joe Namath and Kobe Bryant. Stu had a actual skill for wagering poker but in spite of his successes in Hold’em poker, he preferred wagering gin.

Stu once said that there may a few day be a better No Limit Hold em gambler than him but he couldn’t see how anyone could ever be a better gin player.

In 1980 Stu Ungar was put on the world map as one of the very best Hold’em Poker players in the entire world when he was crowned World Poker Champion for the very first time. Extraordinarily it was the 1st time he had played in the tournament.
