Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover whatever he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the negative comments from other people annihilate his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

He began playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and always strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
