Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover anything he could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not let the negative comments from other people kill his dream of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started competing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every day and is very humble about his achievements. He admits to making blunders every single game of poker and always strives to get better.

Even though Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
