NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker contender in the world by quite a few of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn every little thing he possibly could about the game. He started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an eternal love for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and always strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
