Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker competitor on the planet by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather introduced him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse comments from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

He started playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable love for poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every day and is very humble about his success. He admits to making errors every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a normal basis.
