Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the planet by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandfather taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover everything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the adverse feedback from other people destroy his dream of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began playing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed a number of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable love for poker. He says that he is picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Even though Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
