Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker contender on the globe by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn whatever he could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental feedback from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.

Phil began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and an eternal love for poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every day and is very humble about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes errors in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Although Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
