Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker contender on the planet by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn anything he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the negative comments from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

Phil started playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated many of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He states that he is picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
