Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover whatever he possibly could about the game. He routinely would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

He began competing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a common thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. He states that he is learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. He admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
