Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn everything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the negative feedback from other people destroy his ambition of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

Phil began competing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an undying love for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is quite abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes errors every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a regular basis.
