Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover every little thing he possibly could about the game. He would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the detrimental feedback from other people destroy his goal of being one of the best poker players on the planet.

He began playing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and a continuing passion for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his success. He knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Even though Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
