Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup anything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative comments from others annihilate his dream of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

Phil began competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching period and winning was not a common thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an eternal love for poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every day and is very humble about his success. Phil knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
