The Importance of Poker Position
Texas Holdem is all about people and arrangement. All experienced Texas Holdem players agree that seating in no limit Texas Holdem is fundamentally essential. Showing your hole cards in late position will be much more profitable than in early poker position. This is because a whole lot more information is amassed prior to acting.
As an example, I was playing a $1-$2 no limit money match at a local poker room. I bumbled in with 2, 9 unsuited on the croupier button, just to see a little excitement. Flop arrived A-A-4. A player in starting position placed a $15 bet. 2 individuals drop out and it was my turn. I really should have dropped out, but his action appear to be a bit off. I labeled this guy as a weak-tight guy, and usually if he had the number one hand he would just check, so I called.
The turn came down with a 7, meaning it was a A-A-4-7. My competitor placed another bet of $20. I hesitated a bit, but made a decision to re-raise an additional $30thirty dollars over and above his $20. He folds and I take the chips.
Sitting at last position provides you an insight into where you stand by observing how other players carry oneself and wager. On the other hand, players at early spot may use their poker position to check-raise the last seated competitors and trap them afterwords at the end. In Texas Hold’em, each spots, late and starting must be wagered carefully.
