Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the negative comments from other people destroy his goal of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He began competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
