Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the planet by most of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup everything he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the negative comments from other people kill his dream of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

He started competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an undying passion for the game of poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes errors in each session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
