NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn anything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the negative feedback from other people destroy his goal of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning period and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed many of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and a continuing love for poker. He says that he is learning every day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes errors in each session of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Even though Ivey has won some big tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
