Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn whatever he could about poker. He routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the adverse comments from other people kill his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an eternal love for poker. Phil states that he is learning every day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making blunders every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
