No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover everything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the adverse comments from others annihilate his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
He started playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated a number of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his success. He knows he makes errors every single session of poker and always strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
