NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandfather introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not allow the negative feedback from other people kill his ambition of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.
Phil began playing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a learning period and winning was not a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated many of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his achievements. He admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Even though Phil has won some large tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a normal basis.
